Strong, tall, principled and a quiet righter of wrongs, but who is he really?
Detective Inspector Steven Murray leads from the front. And this time he supports and informs you all about his past in these eventful, career highlights. Possibly crossing the line once too often. From sleepy, coastal East Lothian to the bright lights of Las Vegas. From beautiful smiling babies - to a dreaded busman's holiday. Plus, death, kidnapping and twisted, murderous road rage all feature heavily in this, the fifth outing for DI Murray and his sturdy, hardworking team.
For troubled times in a confusing world - This is a collection of five crazy, unexpected puzzling tales from the archives of Murray's unsteady and continually troubled career.
December 2016 and the festive season is just beginning. On the first day of Christmas, Steven Murray never received a partridge in a pear tree. Instead, a dead teenage girl in a burned out vehicle was duly delivered. Ho! Ho! Ho! DCI Furlong, Sgt. Sandra Kerr, 'Hanna' Hayes and 'Kid' Curry are all back in their most horrific adventure yet.
Adam & Eve, tumbling pandas and more obscure, intriguing music lyrics pull you into Inspector Murray's latest Edinburgh tale. The term 'murderer' was often reserved for psychopaths. If the killing was done for means of survival, no one thought less of you. There were those that took life and crumpled under the weight of guilt, even if they had no choice, and there were some who killed when necessary and never lost a wink of sleep over it. Then, there were others who have made it a whole new hobby. Look at them the wrong way and they attack with lethal force.
Defective walls, grandfather clocks and Gloucestershire, all play a vital part in helping Radical Lizzie and the rest of Murray's dedicated team get to the bottom of a mystery that takes them down the magnificent Clyde coastline and to an ancient and beautiful 'Greenock Hotel'.
From his humble beginnings in 'The Winter Wind,' DI Murray's avid band of enthusiastic followers continues to grow steadily. In this seventh outing for the Edinburgh based officer, an unexpected Irish connection resurfaces during an investigation into the surreal death of a teenager in Glasgow.
Twenty years had come and gone since a new force to be reckoned with was first set up and established on the busy streets of Dublin. Fully two decades later, each of the gangland territories throughout Scotland are paying the price. In the name of the Father and of the Son, explosions are rife and Police Scotland are powerless to cope.
The taking of innocence, the bond of true friendship and accepting responsibility for your transgressions, all play a prominent part in Steven Murray's most fascinating adventure so far. Could the resting place of a politician that died over one hundred and sixty years ago - Really hold the key to unlocking the mystery of seven deadly inches?
Seduction, social media and holy scripture all play their part as a series of seemingly random, innocent and unexplained deaths suddenly become linked.
It's March 2017 and Detective Inspector Steven Murray finds himself once again suspended from active duty. It is during this time and shortly after the murder of her husband, that newly promoted Sandra Kerr reveals surprising and unexpected news.
Finally, when a friend from Murray's childhood becomes part of the investigation, a major revelation from his past shakes his very 'faith' in everything. Will the recently forged gangland partnership of 'Bunny' Reid and Andrew Scott survive? And does the Inspector need to quickly recognise the difference between love and lust?
In this tale of murderous deceit, hidden agendas and lies, we discover that everyone has obscure, classified misdemeanours that they would rather keep under wraps. Each of us is guilty, without exception, of having undisclosed - intimate secrets.
Once again Murray brings murder, music and mayhem. And not necessarily in that order.
It's St. Andrew's day 2017. Christmas decorations are in the air as well as 'peace and goodwill' to all men. Except, Detective Inspector Steven Murray was having none of it. He was currently halfway through a full-blown strop. Anger and rage fuelled his body and his nostrils flared heavenward. There was definitely no 'Joy to the World' offered up in his present state.
So what made Mr Angry emerge centre stage? Why the sudden urgency to vent? And who really cared?
It appeared that some irresponsible individual had disposed of their leftover waste in the wrong refuse bin. But it didn't end there. Because another concerned citizen had duly notified the cops and reported it. Under normal circumstances Murray's reaction may have seemed a little extreme. However, when the officer investigated and literally dug a little deeper, the body of a dismembered, naked male was discovered.
So maybe on this occasion, more than most, the crazy, eccentric and often full-on maverick detective was fully entitled to his outlandish 'over the top' reaction! The early Christmas present was only the beginning, as many other festive gifts were to be left scattered throughout Edinburgh in the coming days ahead.
Several highly rated escorts from 'Bunny' Reid establishments had also gone missing. Whilst numerous other dead bodies all began to hurriedly clamber for a desired spot in the city morgue. Depending on your mindset it was either:
Super serious - What was going on?
Super surreal - Was there anything to suggest a link? Or -
Seriously funny - And why did Steven Murray dislike dark chocolate so much?
There is a fine line between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. Doesn't EVERYONE deserve a second chance?
Coming early 2024...
Perfect 10 is an unexpected compendium of untold backgrounds, unique ambitions and unrelenting secrets from the dim and distant past.
Mysterious revelations which include the rape, deceit and torture that many of Murray’s elite team have endured and experienced throughout the years.
“You see the killer is not like other killers. He doesn’t kill for the same reasons. He commits murder solely for the immediate pleasure!”
